Betty Jane Stricker

Betty Jane Stricker, 80, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital, Moses Lake, Washington. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Dan Kunkel officiating. Family and friends committal will proceed to Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on from noon until 5 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Betty was born April 13, 1926 in Scottsbluff, Neb., daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Gable. She started school in a one-room school house with grades K-12 in her hometown. Betty married Albert Junior Stricker on March 9, 1947. They continued to live in Scottsbluff and had the three of their four children. They moved to Moses Lake in August of 1954. Their fourth child followed in 1955.

In 1960 Betty continued her education where she completed her G.E.D and went on to earn her Certified Nurses Aid Certificate. From 1962-1998 she worked as a nurse's aide at Samaritan Hospital.

Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. Betty's passion for helping and caring for those around her came through in her home and work life. She loved her family, cherished her grandchildren and felt great satisfaction through her work at the hospital. Betty was also a talented musician and enjoyed practicing and performing with her band. Watching her play her marimba was both wonderful and entertaining.

Betty is survived by her youngest sister Shirley Kaufman, Denver, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Peg and Tom Page, Reardan; one son and daughter-in-law Bob and Paula Stricker, Denver, Colo.; one daughter Pat Eickerman, Pasco; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Rick Delacruz, Sammamish; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was the second oldest of four children and was preceded in death by her older brother and second youngest sister.

Betty is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
