OFFICIAL NOTICE FOR NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE
WASHINGTON MINT COMMISSION
Pursuant to chapter 15.65 RCW, I, Valoria H. Loveland, Director of Agriculture for the state of Washington, hereby give notice that a public meeting will be held at the Washington State Department of Agriculture, 1111 Washington St. SE, 2nd Floor, Olympia, WA on April 26, 2006 to nominate candidates for Positions 5, 6, and 7 on the Washington Mint Commission. Nominations may be made in person at the meeting or telephonically by calling (360) 902-1806 for the following positions at the indicated time:
Position 5, 6 and Position 7, representing District 2 - 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
(District 2 includes all other counties in the state of Washington other than Benton, Kittitas, and Yakima.)
Qualifications for affected producer members require that the candidate be a practical producer of mint plants in the district in and for which they are nominated and elected, a citizen and resident of the state of Washington, over the age of 18 years, and actually engaged in producing mint plants within this state for a period of five years and has, during that time, derived a substantial portion of his/her income therefrom. A producer member cannot be engaged in business, directly or indirectly, as a handler or other dealer. The qualifications of producer members of the board must continue during their term of office. The next term of office will be from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009.
All producers of mint plants in District 2 are entitled to participate and nominate a qualified candidate from their respective district. If you are unable to attend the meeting, nominations may also be made by written petition if signed by five or more affected producers of mint plants from District 2. Written petitions must be mailed or faxed to the Washington State Department of Agriculture, Commodity Commission Program, PO Box 42560, Olympia, WA, 98504-2560, Fax: (360) 902-2092, and postmarked no later than May 1, 2006.
Notice is further given that if there is more than one nominee received for a position, an election/advisory vote will be conducted by mail. If there is a need for an election, a ballot will be mailed to each person on the list of affected producers or handlers.
