Peter Groen, 78, Moses Lake resident, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Summer Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Moses Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Pastor Larry Brice officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory.

Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Monday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Peter was born Oct. 5, 1927 to the late Joe & Bessie (Straatsma) in Billings, Mont. At a young age he moved with his family to Lynden, where he was raised and educated.

In 1951 he married Betty Bouma.

Peter worked as a dairy farmer for many years and also for the Department of Natural Resources. In the mid-1990s they retired and made Moses Lake their home.

Betty passed away June 28, 2003.

Survivors include his five children, Dolores Martin, Teresa Tyler, Marlene Bergerson, Marjorie Oldham and Russell Groen; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
