Quincy strengthens with each game

QUINCY — The Lady Jacks defeated Cashmere 25-19, 25-14, 25-11 Thursday night.

"It went great," said coach Jeannie Brindle.

The first game was a battle of side outs Thursday. Quincy scored four quick points before relinquishing serve. After the Lady Jacks lost serve it was a rally battle.

Both teams eked out a score with each side out and change of possession with nearly every serve.

After two, almost three full service rotations, Manda Brindle stepped behind the service line and made seven straight points for her team.

There was no looking back for the Lady Jacks after that. And as was befitting of the first game, the Lady Jacks won it on a side out point.

During the second game the trading of possession continued.

The Lady Jacks made two full service rotations and all six members of the squad added points to the score.

There were a few notable rallies during the second game that showed Cashmere still had a little something to give but they were too little, too late.

Quincy's Kylie Kooistra served out the game with the second longest point drive during the game — two consecutive points.

"I told the girls to go out and take care of it in three tonight," said coach Brindle.

In the third game, Quincy looked ready to put the match away.

The Lady Jacks served up an immediate side out to start the game but quickly recovered.

Quincy's third server in the rotation, Lauren Huxtable, served two ace points for the Lady Jacks before a side out.

Brindle added another four to Huxtable's respectable beginning and forced Cashmere to talk it over before siding out.

Stephanie Keller stepped up for Quincy with the 12th and 13th point of the game.

Allison Schaapman had three unanswered points for Quincy, including two aces.

Brindle served out the match with four straight points and gave the Lady Jacks the win.

Kooistra finished the game 7 of 7 serving with two aces, nine digs and two kills. Keller finished the night with six kills and five digs. Brindle finished the game 21 of 21 serving with two aces, nine assists and ten digs. Liz Lemon 16 of 18 hitting with six kills on the night. Leigh-Ann Huxtable finished the night with six kills.

After Thursday's win, Quincy is planning ahead for Cascade Saturday.

"Cashmere is a completely different team," said coach Brindle. She went on to say that the Lady Jacks would have to step up their hitting and defense when they take on the Lady Kodiaks.

Quincy will host Cascade at home Saturday with games beginning at 11 a.m.
