Mary Diaz Dabalos

Mary Diaz Dabalos, 86, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday at LakeRidge Special Care Center. Holy Rosary/Remembrance service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father John Morse, S.J. as celebrant. Internment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Viewing will take place at the church on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mary was born in Sonora, Ariz. on Oct. 3, 1918 to Juan and Tomasa Diaz. She was married to Leo Dabalos in 1936. They moved to Wapato in 1943, where they resided until moving to Moses Lake in 1966.

Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening and being involved in her Church. She mostly enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. They will all remember their visits to Grandma's and especially her home cooking.

Mary is survived by her seven children. Five sons: Alfonso and Judy Dabalos of Wapato; Leo, Jr. and Rosie Dabalos, Rudolph Dabalos and Lottie Dabalos, Thomas and Jenny Dabalos of Moses Lake; and Ruben and Aurora Dabalos of Selah. Two daughters: Josephine Dabalos of Moses Lake and Virginia Dabalos of Renton.

Three brothers: Louis and Ramona Diaz of Yakima; Felix and Yolanda Diaz of Mount; and Jesse and Sharon Diaz of Puyallup. Five sisters: Carmen and Tony Cardenas and Margaret Perez of Moses Lake; Esther Diaz-Orozco and Monica and Ricardo Garcia of Wapato; and Rachel and Joe Molano of Yakima.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eligio (Leo) Dabalos, daughter, Anita Dabalos and grandson, Daniel Dabalos.
