Ralph LaVar Varney

Born June 6, 1927 to Ralph and Rose Ella Varney in Lehi, Utah. Passed away Tuesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after a brief battle with acute leukemia.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Geri) of Daisy, Wash.; one brother and wife, Stan and Joyce; children: Bill and wife Judy, Joe and wife Gayle and Tim and wife Joan; stepsons, Mark and Scott Salisbury; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and bowling. He received an award for 44 years work in beet technology, working 33 years at U & I Sugar and 11 years for American Crystal Sugar.

LaVar was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy out of Hawaii and a life member of the Elks.

He was very proud of all his family and a great inspiration in their lives.

He requested no funeral service, but a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
