Moses Lake candidates speak out
Oct. 26 forum offers voters chance to hear position seekers
MOSES LAKE — Before casting ballots this November, voters will have the chance Oct. 26 to hear from the candidates vying for positions in the Moses Lake area.
Bev Shuford, a member of Soroptimist International and one of the organizers for next week's forum at the Moses Lake High School Commons, said organizers have invited candidates for the Moses Lake City Council, Grant County Fire District No. 5 Commission and Grant County Hospital District No. 1 Commission to take part in the forum. Representatives from sponsors of each of the initiatives on the November ballot have also been invited to the event.
The event has been scheduled from 6 to 9:30 p.m., Oct. 26. Shuford said the forum will follow a similar format to one held for candidates at MLHS in September. Each candidate will be given time to talk about why they are running, and attendees will be given the chance to submit written questions to each of the candidates.
"People need to be informed on who's going to run their local government," Shuford said.
She said should come to the event and hear what each of the candidates has to say.
The event is being put on by Soroptimist International, the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Moses Lake Business Association and the Columbia Basin Herald. For more information on the forum, call the chamber office at (509) 765-7888.
The general election has been scheduled for Nov. 8, and ballots will be mailed out to voters in Grant County this Friday.
