Geraldine Herzig

Geraldine Herzig, 82, of Othello, passed away Saturday, Oct.15, 2005 at Othello Community Hospital with her loving family at her side.

Geraldine was born on July 27, 1923 in Apex, Mont., to Lester and Genevieve (Martin) Rice. She spent her childhood years in Montana and graduated from high school in Sheridan, Mont. Along with raising a family, Geraldine worked as a telephone operator for 15 years in Montana. Geraldine met Everett in Montana and they were married June 8, 1953. She worked as lead production operator for Motorola Electronic Company from which she retired in 1981. She enjoyed being a member of the Eagles Auxiliary # 3468, AZ, American Legion Unit 26, Mesa, Ariz., Women of the Moose 1961, Mesa, AZ and Red Lodge Does - Red Lodge, Mont., of which she was a charter member.

Geradline loved her children. She was a sports enthusiast, with basketball and car racing her favorite. She liked making items with plastic canvas, loved gardening, with roses being her most loved flower. Her turtle collection, which is around 500 pieces, ranges from very small to large turtles.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband Everett, a son, Ray, her parents and a brother, Babe. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Williams (Mel), Othello; son, Brett Hollen, Missoula, Mont.; one sister, Delores Nicholls, Mont.; a half sister, Nancy, and a half brother, Curtis; five grandchildren and six great-grand children.

A time for visitation has been set aside at the Pilgrim Luthern Church on Tuesday, Oct. 18 beginning at 1:30 p.m. with a celebration of Geraldine's life to follow at 3 p.m. The burial will be in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Stevens Funeral Chapel, Othello, is in charge of the arrangements.
