Lind-Ritzville moves on to the semis
EASTSOUND — The Broncos defeated Orcas Island 49-13 Saturday.
Justin Whitney got things started for Lind-Ritzville with a one-yard scamper into the end zone.
In the second quarter, Nick Ashley ran for three touchdowns — 14-yards, 11-yards and 48-yards to put his team up for good.
In the third, James Saetre had a 9-yard run for a touchdown.
The fourth quarter saw an interception by Nathan Bucher returned 80 yards for a touchdown.
Cory Whitmore capped off the game for the Broncos with a 7-yard run.
Travis Dewald finished the day 4 of 7 passing for 48 yards.
Ashley had 22 carries for 217 yards, three touchdowns and one catch for nine yards. Saetre had four carries for 54 yards, a touchdown and one catch for 10 yards. Whitney rushed for 132 yards on 14 carries, had a touchdown and one catch for 16 yards. Whitmore had three carries for five yards and a touchdown.
Lind-Ritzville put up 463 yards of total offense.
On defense, Tyler Bruegeman and Whitney each had interceptions along with Bucher's interception.
The win puts the Broncos amongst the top four teams in the state. They are also a team that has made the semi-finals five of the last six years.
