Fire destroys Adams County home
Bank repossessed home prior to fire
OTHELLO — Authorities are still investigating the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a home south of here Monday.
According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, responders got the call at approximately 6 a.m. that a home was on fire on the 1500 block of Birdwell Road. The one-story brick home with a daylight basement was fully involved when authorities arrived on scene. The ACSO stated in a news release the home was completely destroyed by the fire.
The home has been recently repossessed by a bank, the release said, but the homeowner was still living there from time to time. Representatives from the ACSO and Adams County Fire District No 5 responded to the incident.
Injuries to any person due to the fire, were not immediately known.
Sheriff Doug Barger said a propane barbecue and portable heater were located inside the residence, but said authorities are still attempting to determine the cause of the blaze.
