Special athletes to benefit from spaghetti feed fund-raiser

| November 3, 2005 8:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Special Olympics wants the public to join them as they hold auctions and a spaghetti feed on Nov. 10 at Chief Moses Middle School to raise money for next year's activities.

"We hope to see a big turnout because all the money stays here in the community for local athletes," said fund-raising chairman Sue Hodges.

Money raised at the event will help pay for the local Special Olympics athletes' travel, uniforms, lodging and facility uses during their sport seasons, she said.

The athletes range in age from 8 to 80-years-old and they participate in track and field, bowling, basketball, softball and other sports throughout the year, Hodges said.

The spaghetti feed will be from 5 to 8 p.m. and will include both a silent and live auction featuring Jacob Barth from Chuck Yarbro Auctioneers. Admission for adults will be $8 and children will be $4. Children under 3 will get in free.

Tickets to the event will be pre-sold at Food Pavilion and Pharmacy Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Next week, on Monday and Tuesday pre-sold tickets will be available there from 4 to 7 p.m, Hodges said.
