Grant County Board of Commissioners

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

Notice is hereby given that the Grant County Board of Commissioners will be holding a public hearing in joint session with the Washington State Department of Ecology for the purpose of informing the citizens of Grant County regarding matters before the Board and to provide an opportunity for public comment on these matters. All interested persons are welcome to attend and provide comment relating to the following:

I. Columbia Basin Ground Water Management Area (GWMA) Petition:

a. Relating to expanding the existing GWMA boundary area of Adams, Franklin and Grant Counties to include the political boundary area of Lincoln County.

b. Relating to expanding the current GWMA designation order to allow the GWMA to address other regional groundwater issues relating to water quality and water quantity within the political boundary area of Adams, Franklin, Grant and Lincoln counties in the capacity of a non-regulatory support role in providing technical assistance and planning resources to local stakeholders, citizens, communities, agencies and other water resource groups.

Location and time of hearing: June 8, 2005, 3:30 p.m., in the Commissioners Meeting Room of the Grant County Courthouse, Commissioner's Chambers, 35 C. Street SW, Ephrata, WA.

Any interested person wishing to provide comment or information regarding these matters may do so in writing to the GWMA Project Office, 449 E. Cedar Blvd., Othello, WA 99344, no later than 4:00 p.m., June 7, 2005, or in person on the date of the public hearing. All comments are a matter of public record and must include the name, address, and phone number of the individual providing comment.

A copy of the GWMA Petition is available for inspection at the office of the Grant County Commissioners, the Grant Conservation District office, local city halls and libraries. A copy may also be obtained by contacting the Columbia Basin GWMA at 509-488-2802 ext 108.
