Royal softball schools Wahluke

The Lady Knights took on the Lady Warriors Tuesday and defeated them 15-2 in the first game and 24-2 in the second.

In the first game, Royal's 15 runs came off of nine hits and one error. Mackenzie Brown was 2 for 4 and Jill Piercy and Arlene Delgado both hit 2 for 2.

Ashley Baker pitched to Angie Verhey for the win.

The second game was five innings and after the third, every girl who got on base was sent running early for a tag out and a quicker end to the game. Joelle Herrod hit 2 for 2 and Melissa Dixon hit 2 for 3 in that game.

Natalie Toftdahl pitched to Morgan Yearout for the win.

In the second game all the younger players got a chance to play, said Royal head coach Bill Barker.

Royal's next game will be against Riverview Thursday.

Warden sweeps Burbank

It's a good sign when your pitcher tallies more hits than the entire team she is facing.

Jennifer Kotong led her team from the mound, giving up just three hits, and from the plate, hitting 4 for 5 with a double and three RBIs as the Lady Cougars took on Columbia-Burbank Thursday and ended the day with two wins.

Warden took the first game 19-1 with 19 hits and one error.

Warden's TJ Mora hit 2 for 3 with four RBIs, Sierra Kisler hit 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Kat Martin hit 3 for 5 with a triple.

In the second game it was more of the same; Warden won 13-3.

Ashton Stott pitched for the Lady Cougars, giving up four hits and striking out six.

In the second game, Amanda Martin hit 2 for 4 with a double and Marce Villegas hit 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

"[Warden] played solid softball," said coach Wes Richins.

The Lady Cougars sit in the fourth spot in the league with a 7-4 record this season; they take on Wahluke Thursday.

Golf

Moses Lake takes eighth

Moses Lake's boys golf team played at the Tri-Cities Golf and Country Club, a par 65 course, Monday to take home eighth place with a team score of 305.

The winning team score was put up by Walla Walla, who had a 271 and was followed closely by Eastmont, who had a 272. The medalist for the day was Max Reinland of Walla Walla, who had a 63.

For Moses Lake, Cameron Whittle shot a 73, Alex Semba had a 75, Brad Earl shot a 77, Sean Hoiness had an 80, Zach McDougall shot an 85 and Tim Molitor had a 90.

Chiefs defeat Bulldogs

Moses Lake's boys golf team hosted Ellensburg at the Moses Lake Country Club, a par 71 course, Tuesday and won with a team score of 325 to Ellensburg's 341.

The medalist for the day was Sam Whitaker of Ellensburg, who shot a 75.

Scores for Moses Lake: Cameron Whittle shot a 77, Zach McDougall had an 81, Brad Earl shot an 83, Sean Hoiness had an 84, Alex Semba shot an 86 and Mike Holmes had a 95.

Districts will begin next Tuesday with two golf matches being played. The first will be a morning match at Moses Pointe and the second will be an afternoon match at the Moses Lake Country Club.
