Dana R. Kelby
Dana R. Kelby, age 72, died at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Friday.
He was born on July 19, 1932, in the town of Wilson Creek, to the late Ray and Audrey Kelby. He attended Wilson Creek School and graduated in 1951. Dana served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until his retirement in 1971. He then worked as the Postmaster at the Wilson Creek Post Office from 1972 until his retirement in 1992.
Dana was a member of the Wilson Creek First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. He was a devoted member of the Marvin Johnson Post #216 of the American Legion in Wilson Creek and 40 & 8 Voiture 1213. He was a commissioner on the Grant County Cemetery District #2 for the Wilson Creek Cemetery. He was a supporter of the American Legion Post #28 in Ephrata and the Wilson Creek community.
Dana is survived by his wife, Natsuyo "Ann;" his daughter, Karen Kauffman, Cheney; his son, Raymond Kelby, Wilson Creek; his granddaughter, Amanda Kauffman, Renton; his sister, Carald Jean Cook, Kennewick; his cousin and his wife, Warren and Dorothy Smith, Shoreline; his brother-in-law and his wife, Clifton and Ellen Onaga, Hawaii; and sisters-in-law, Betty and Amy Onaga, Hawaii.
Paster Arnold F. Stueckle will conduct family graveside services at Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Wilson Creek Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata and a reception at the American Legion Post #28 in Ephrata.
Dana will be missed by his family, extended family and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wilson Creek First Presbyterian Church or the Wilson Creek Cemetery.
