Ethel Eunice Thonney

Ethel Eunice Thonney, 82, of College Place, Wash., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 6, while recovering from surgery at Kadlec Hospital.

Ethel was born January 20, 1923, in Vancouver, to William and Irma Helene Walker Bawden. She later moved with her family to Sierra Madre, Calif., where she graduated from Pasadena City College.

On April 3, 1948, she married Harold Benjamin (Ben) Thonney of Dixie. They made their home in Dayton, where Ben was employed by Pacific Power & Light; upon his retirement, they moved to College Place.

Mrs. Thonney worshiped the Lord with the brethren at 633 Newell in Walla Walla.

Ethel loved working in her flower garden and spending time with family and friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Ethel is survived by her son Chuck and daughter Wanda, four grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck and his wife, Candi, live in Moses Lake; their daughter Jennifer and her husband, Matt Agee, live in Renton; and their son Bradley Thonney is attending school in New York. Wanda and her husband Eric Jacobson live in Touchet, Wash; their daughter Amie lives with her husband, Robert Percifield, and daughter, ReAnna, in Walla Walla; and their daughter Kelly lives with her husband, Devon Haight, and daughter, Ashley, in Bothell.

Ethel is also survived by two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Josie Osborne of La Habre, Calif.; Grace and her husband Paul Wilson of Eureka, Calif.; and Elmer Boydstun of Eureka, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, and her sister Florence Boydstun.
