Mary Alice Cassiano

Mary Alice Cassiano, 74, a longtime Moses Lake resident, followed her father, Benjamin and her brother, Joe, in mortal sleep on Saturday, April 30, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Assistant Pastor John Alvarez of Casa De Dios Puerta Del Cielo in Burlington, Wash. officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, Wash., where she will be buried next to her father.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.

Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Mary was born July 2, 1930 in Asherton, Texas to Benjamin and Louisiana Cassiano.

Following Benjamin's wife's death he moved his family to Washington in the late 1940's. Mary was a worker, she worked for Boeing in the days of Larson Air Force Base. She worked for the bus depot when the buses stopped on West Broadway. She also worked for Pronto, alias Carnation, alias Nestles until her retirement in 1995.

She cared for her plants and animals at her small farm in Mae Valley.

She was close to her brothers and sisters and enjoyed the interaction of her nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her. She said, "It's what my dad taught me."

Mary was a strong healthy woman. In January, she had a headache and "flu-like" symptoms. She was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiform and died of complications resulting from treatment.

Survivors include, sisters, Vera Salinas and Pauline Cruz and brother Benjamin Jr.; along with 2 bits worth of nieces and nephews.
