Looking for a fourth title

| March 31, 2005 8:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — At 4 a.m. today, the Moses Lake drill team will roll out of the high school parking lot toward their fourth national title competition.

The Moses Lake High School drill team competed in the "dance/drill" category during their first two years at the competition and last year moved to a competition bracket called "open kick."

This year the drill team will be competing in the "champion kick" bracket. This bracket requires all competing teams to have scored 85 points or better in the previous year's competition. All teams are judged in three categories: execution, showmanship and routine. Former coach, Michelle Kittrel took over the coaching position in January after a falling out between the previous coach and team parents.

The Molahiettes finished in a tie for first-place at the state competition and while Kittrell expects a top placing, it won't be until Saturday night when they know about securing that fourth consecutive national trophy.

The Molahiettes include captain Stevi Aney, Brooke Baker, lieutenant Danielle Baker, Amber Beck, Tanae Bergeson, Chelise Boren (Platt), Stephanie Brown, Whitney Chamberlain, Crystal Curtis, Courtney Earl, Claire Goodrich, Katie Hill, captain Corrisa Howard, Dana Johnson, Rebecca Martinez, Sarah Mitchell, Mary Moberg, lieutenant Stephanie Moberg, Kimber Montoya, Colleen Ochocinski, Elizabeth Peralez, Paige Poth, Amanda Sell, Joanne St. Onge, Sarai Stones, Nichole Sutton and Hillary Weber.
