Roger "Reid" Knauss, a wonderful man and long time resident of Moss Lake, passed away March 18, 2005 at 8 p.m.

Reid was a much-beloved father, grandfather, member of the Catholic Church and friend. He was a very involved member of the community, inspiring and teaching many. Born in Coulee City, Wash. on April 14, 1921 and graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1940, he met his lovely wife Clarice in Wenatchee in 1946. They were married on May 4, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Active with the Wenatchee Junior Chamber of Commerce, and president in 1950, he was a very influential citizen. He helped with both mind and body to create Three Lakes Golf Club, where he was also their first president. A lover of baseball, he was involved as both coach and president of Little League as well. In 1962, Reid moved his family to Moses Lake and became the first business manager for the Moses Lake Doctors Clinic. His community involvement included being member of the Moses Lake Lions Club and the Moses Lake Golf and Country Club for 30 years. He was also an umpire for 27 years. He participated in all levels of the game from Little League to a game in the KingDome. Most recently, he served as president for residents of Hearthstone Retirement Inn. He loved the area in which he lived, and enjoyed many outdoor activities like golfing, hunting and fishing as well as traveling around the country with Clarice in their motor home.

Despite asthma, Reid was a major participant of World War II, flying as a pilot of B-25s in 46 missions, all being successful. He retired as a major after 28 years of service for the Air Force.

Reid was a man that you could listen to for hours as he told amazing stories of his experiences. His smile, strong hugs and ability to teach important lessons was a powerful and loving force in his family and friend's lives. He will be greatly missed and loved forever.

He is survived by his wife Clarice, his children, Cory, Dustan, Stacie, Lexie and Richard and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A service will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at 200 N. Dale Rd., Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Moses Lake.
