Two suspects arrested in Quincy robbery

Police say crime similar to Mini Mart robbery

QUINCY — Two Quincy men suspected in a pair of gas station robberies in the last week have been arrested.

Luis Ricardo Dejesus and Luis Novelo have been booked into the Grant County Jail, after their arrest shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

According to a Quincy Police Department press release, Dejesus and Novelo are believed to have participated in the robbery of the Girasol Mini-Mart on the 300 block of F Street SE early Wednesday morning. The Girasol Mini-Mart on the was robbed at knife point just before 3 a.m., and a suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Sgt. Scott Jones with the Quincy Police Department said that there were no injuries or damage in Wednesday's robbery. Two Quincy officers, assisted by Grant County Sheriff's Office and a Chelan County tracking dog, tracked the suspect about half a mile.

Witnesses described the suspect as a male Hispanic at 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a navy blue T-shirt and white tennis shoes.

The QPD also suspects the two men in the robbery of Quincy's Short Stop Mini-Mart on Feb. 24.

"The description of the suspect is similar to one of the people (from the earlier robbery)," Jones said Wednesday. "Also his method of doing the crime is very similar."

Dejesus, 20, was booked on two counts of of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft, as well as a charge of second-degree assault and an outstanding Grant County District Court warrant.

Novelo, also 20, has been arrested for obstructing, and the QPD said additional robbery-related charges are pending.

Troopers with the Washington State Patrol assisted in the arrest.

The arrests have been made, but the QPD said the situation is still under investigation. Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call them at 787-4718 or 787-2222
