Gladys Nancy Cook
Gladys Nancy Cook, beloved mother, grandmother, confidant and friend, passed away Friday, June 10, at her daughter's home in Lynden, Wash. Gladys was born on a farm in Wisconsin, April 4, 1918, one of ten children, to Harry and Nellie Williams.
She married Richard Cook in 1938 and then enjoyed 49 wonderful years of marriage. They moved to Bremerton, Wash. in 1944, where they raised their three children and worked at the Naval Shipyard, taught school and took many fun-filled, educational family vacations around the country.
In 1957 they bought the Greyhound Bus Depot and restaurant in Moses Lake which quickly became a "family affair" for 25 years!
Gladys was an enthusiastic, vital woman who took an active role in her family, church and community. She loved LIFE - fishing, traveling, crossword puzzles, FRIENDS, her home and flowers, reading, her church and her Lord, bare trees in winter, bird-watching, gorgeous sunsets, entertaining all with her jokes - Life to the fullest!
Ever quick to make friends wherever she went, her absence will be deeply felt by all who were blessed to know and be loved by her.
Gladys is survived by her sisters, Helen Litzkow (Madison, Wis.), Vera Feivor (Racine, Wis.) and Ruby Allen (Mauston, Wis.); brother Don Williams (Milwaukee, Wis.); daughter Bev and husband Derrell Cooke (Lynden, Wash.); sons Pete Cook (Costa Rica) and Richard Cook (Bremerton); grandchildren Linda Marzano, Len Cooke, Chris Cooke, Kimberly Leigh, Richard Cook, Peggy Thornton, Michael Cook, Tab Cook and Tracy Kelly, numerous great-grandchildren and hundreds of friends.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1142 W. Ivy Avenue, Moses Lake.
