Moses Lake sweeps doubleheader, returns to .500

MOSES LAKE — The bottom of the third in the Walleyes' second game turned the tide for the Moses Lake team. The lineup combined for six RBIs to help their team to an 8-2 win over Selah Tuesday.

Matt Valdez led off the inning and was hit by the second pitch thrown by Selah's pitcher. Chase Hunter, who was 5 of 6 with three RBIs on the day, stepped up to the plate and belted a double to get his team traveling the bases.

The big hit of the game came off the bat of Pablo Correa, who settled in at the plate and knocked a bases-clearing single that brought Taylor McNamara and Dan Collins home.

Matt Valdez batted in a single runner in the bottom of the fifth. It would be the last run of the game scored by either team.

In the second game Taylor McNamara was 2 for 3, as was Dan Collins. Zack Vasquez had an RBI and Derik LeFave had a triple. Zane Bator got the win from the mound, notching 5 strikeouts and walking one.

Josh Munoz pitched the first game, getting four strikeouts and walking two, to help his team to a 13-1 victory. He also was 2 for 3 from the plate.

LeFave had three RBIs, Vasquez had two and Bator had two while going 3 for 3 at the plate.

Jon Redford and Bryan Sanchez were both 2 for 3 at the plate.

"They came out and started hitting the ball," said assistant coach Frank Guerrero. "We will compete with the Dusters (tomorrow) if we come out hitting like we did today."

The Walleyes play the Dusters at the Larson Playfields today at 5 p.m.
