Darlene Elizabeth Cox

Darlene Elizabeth Cox, 68, of Moses Lake, died Friday, June 10, at Samaritan Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Glendale, Calif. on May 26, 1937, to Walter Westley Clark and Georgia Vetura Mayhugh Clark. In 1955, she married Daniel Le Roy Cox, now deceased, in San Francisco.

While in California, she managed an apartment building and worked at Edwards Air Force Base.

In 1975, she moved to Moses Lake and was Attendance Secretary at Chief Moses Junior High for a few years before going to work in Ephrata at the district court, where she worked until her retirement.

She was a caring, outspoken person with a good sense of humor and loved to be outdoors; one of her favorite activities was riding her horse "Thunder" and camping in the mountains. In her later years when her activities were more limited because of the complications of lupus, she enjoyed the companionship of her friends, as well as her beloved pets: Nicki, Precious and Kitty.

Darlene was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where she was the Eucharistic Minister coordinator and also in the choir. She was also a member of the Franciscan Companions of Spokane.

Preceding her in death was her only sister, Renee.

Surviving is a son, Daniel Lee Cox, and friend Anne of Walla Walla.

A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Moses Lake. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 19, also at the church.
