The Wahluke Warriors needed two games to become 2A state soccer champions for the seventh time in as many years this weekend.

Tony Langdon's Warriors faced Connell on Friday. The Warriors put Connell away in a 5-1 second half scoring show. In the first half, Rogelio Guerrero scored the only goal for Wahluke, with an assist from Sigi Pulido, in the 38th minute.

Scoring in the second half was sparked by a penalty kick goal by Ernesto Rodriguez in the 56th minute. Four minutes later Aldo Zamora would score with assistance from Rodriguez to make the score 3-1.

Rodriguez found the back of the net again with help from Sigi Pulido. Pulido then scored a goal of his own on an assist from Jairo Rubalcava.

The Warriors matched up against Ridgefield for the championship game Saturday and defeated them 1-0. The only goal of the game came off the boot of Jose Mendez in the 66th minute.

Wahluke out shot Ridgefield 11-7 and Fernando Munoz, Wahluke's keeper, had three saves on the day.

"We played strong defense for the win," said coach Tony Langdon.
