Lindy John Laffranchi

Lindy John Laffranchi, 76, of George, passed away May 25 at the Quincy Valley Hospital, after a long hard battle with various health problems.

He was born on May 18, 1929 in Ferndale, Calif. to Peter and Lucia (Scalvini) Laffranchi on the family diary. As a young man he helped to run the family dairy, which was in the Challenge dairy co-op. He later had his own diary, also raising potatoes, artichokes and grass hay.

He moved to the George area in 1972 to farm 800 acres of sweet and field corn, potatoes, beans, alfalfa hay, pumpkins and had a cow/calf operation.

Lindy enjoyed having his pilot's license and being able to fly the various planes he owned over the years. He loved the water, swimming and boating. In his later years, everyone remembers him and his four wheeler, here, there and everywhere.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Lillie Belle Laffranchi of George; sons: Lanny (Kay) Laffranchi of Soap Lake and Ron Laffranchi of East Wenatchee; daughter: Kathee Laffranchi of Lancaster, Calif.; step-sons: Allen (Tina) Evenson of George and Gordon (Tracey) of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-daughters: Carla Yuen of George and Linda Kastel of East Wenatchee; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nephew, Joe Evenson of George and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Laffranchi and Betty Laffranchi also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two older brothers, Ernest and Severino.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Pious X Catholic Church in Quincy. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow cemetery services.
