Wenatchee proves its worth, tops Moses Lake
Tony St. Onge knew Wenatchee was going to outswim Moses Lake on Thursday and the Panthers proved it with a 117-74 win over the Chiefs in the final meet of the season.
"Our team did perform well and we had several season best times against tough competition," St. Onge said. "Coaches do like to see athletes step up and perform their best against tough competition."
Dylan Grigg qualified for districts for Moses Lake in the 100-butterfly, bring the total qualified swimmers for Moses Lake to 16. The Chiefs will also take four divers.
Mario Polito scored first in the 50- and 100-freestyle and Jeff Warner finished first in the 100-butterfly. Eric Butterfield scored Moses Lake's only second-place finish in the meet in the 500-free.
"Wenatchee had the top end as well as the depth and demonstrated pretty clearly the advantage of year - round training versus seasonal training," St. Onge added.
Moses Lake now prepares for districts on Feb. 4 at Central Washington University.
