Whitney trial continued

EPHRATA — The trial of a former Warden firefighter has been pushed back, but prosecutors said Wednesday that the case could be resolved without going to trial.

Marty Whitney is the former assistant chief of the Warden Fire Department, and has been accused of allegedly molesting his family's 16-year-old babysitter during a period from mid-June to mid-July of 2004.

Whitney pleaded not guilty to charges of third-degree rape of a child in October. He was in court again Wednesday, along with his attorney Garth Dano.

A trial date in the case was pushed back from this week to Feb. 16, but prosecutor Carolyn Fair said in Grant County Superior Court Wednesday that she believed there would soon be a resolution in the case.
