Walla Walla takes care of Big Bend

Aundrea Morrison became a ball hog, scoring 29 points and bringing in 21 rebounds to lead Walla Walla over Big Bend 64-53 on Wednesday.

In a supporting role, Trisha Dodson had seven rebounds in the win for the Warriors.

Big Bend was led by Kari Darnell with 14 points and Jenna Ball had 10 points in the loss.

Ephrata ends regular season on a high note

The Lady Tigers took a nine- point lead into halftime, then exploded for a 21-6 third quarter run to pull away from Cashmere in a 76-45 win over the Bulldogs Thursday.

Margie Lou Correll led three Ephrata players with double figures with 15 points in the win. Kellee Neal had 12 and Kyla Whitaker had 11 points. Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Courtney Webb with nine points and Laura Tinnell with eight points.

Ephrata wrapped up the regular season as the No. 2 seed out of the CWAC North and will host either Grandview or Naches on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Boys basketball

Walla Walla slows down Runnin' Vikings

Brandon Nielsen's 34 points and Jeff Coffman's 24 points were not enough to stop Walla Walla from a 105-97 win over Big Bend on Wednesday.

Robert Comer, who scored 13 points in the first meeting between the two teams, broke out for 33 points against the Runnin' Vikings. Walla Walla's Zach Danelson had 23, Derek Trembley scored 19, Brandon Lange had 13 and Sam Howard had seven rebounds and six assists in the win.

Big Bend's Chris Pendleton scored 16 points and dished out six assists in the loss. The Runnin' Vikings missed an opportunity to move into a tie for first place in the Eastern Region after Spokane fell to Columbia Basin 117-110 in triple overtime.

MLCA takes Waterville, Pateros next

The Moses Lake Christian Academy put themselves in position for the North Central Washington district championship Thursday with a 60-41 win over Waterville.

Derek Dietzen continued his double-double streak with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Elijah Timofeyev had 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Billy Porter had 16 points and six rebounds for the Lions in the win.

"We played team ball," Munoz said. "Things are starting to click for us."

Moses Lake will face Pateros at Wenatchee High School for the district championship on Wednesday.
