William R. "Bill" Booth

William R. "Bill" Booth, 71, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at his home.

He was born April 5, 1933, in Saint Helens, Ore., to the late Walter and Rosalie Booth.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy 1950-1956 aboard the U.S.S. John R. Craig during the Korean conflict. He also served in the U.S. Army 1962-1968 during the Vietnam conflict and later served in the National Reserves for a total of 17 years duty in the armed forces, with honorably discharges from each service.

On April 4, 1969, Bill was united in marriage to Elsie Mary Menchaca in Moses Lake, sharing over 35 happy years together.

Bill worked at Nestle (now Simplot), between the years 1968 and 1996 when he retired as a supervisor and was awarded the Faithful Service Award for his 27 years of service there.

Bill enjoyed fishing, and boating, and was an avid story and joke teller. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Elsie Booth, his brother Bob Booth (Canby, Ore.), his sister Gerry McClure and husband Don (Nespelem) and sister Terry Booth (Kettle Falls), sister Donna Broach and husband Lew (Rusk, Texas), and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Also surviving him are loving children Jessie Menchaca, Rick Menchaca and wife Janine (all of Moses Lake), Monica Smith (Bellevue), Debbie Robinson and husband Tex (Chehalis), and Crystal Gates (Chelan). Bill is also survived by his grandchildren, including Taryn, Michael, Alyssa, Justine, Nicole, Kayli, Sarah, Shawn, Joshua and Brianna, as well as his great-grandson, Alex. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son Lawrence Menchaca.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at Kayser's

Chapel of Memories. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.

Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m.
