Warden outmatched by WWVA

More mature, more physical and more experienced, the Walla Walla Valley Academy beat Warden 85-51 in the league game at Warden Tuesday evening.

"They are just a very big and physical team," said Warden head coach Josh Madsen of his opponents. "They took it to us."

Warden came out flat, Madsen said, shooting poorly and giving WWVA easy buckets off of rebounds. WWVA took a 26-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

With the loss, Warden falls to 0-7 in league and 3-14 overall.

Warden was led by Josh Bisnett with 11 points.

Lady Cougars crush WWVA

Warden's seniors went out in style Tuesday night in Warden.

The Lady Cougars blew out Walla Walla Valley Academy 61-26 on a senior night in which every Warden player scored.

"They were athletic, just not basketball athletic," said Warden head coach Todd Kisler of WWVA. Walla Walla was unable to handle Warden's press, he said, and the Lady Cougars led 19-6 in the first quarter.

Sierra Kisler led all scorers with 14. Dana Bates and Mirielle Pixton added 10 each, and Stacy Ruge had eight.

With the win and action over the weekend, Warden solidified its standing in second place in the SCAC East. Warden split weekend action and got 49 points in two games from Bates.

Friday, Warden fell to first-place Columbia-Burbank 69-59. Bates' 19 second-half points were not enough to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit. Columbia-Burbank was powered by Lauren Rada's 14 fourth-quarter points.

Warden redeemed itself against third-place River View Saturday. Bates poured in 20 points and Kisler added 11.

With the wins, Warden improves to 5-2 in league, 10-7 overall.

MLCA tops Wilson Creek

Moses Lake Christian Academy weathered poor shooting to beat Wilson Creek 34-22 in the North Central B South league game at Wilson Creek Tuesday.

"It was never really dominant," said MLCA head coach Scott Dietzen. "We would get up a little bit and they would come back."

MLCA jumped out to an early lead and held it the entire game.

MLCA's Bethany Verhage led all scorers with 19. Felicity Ottis led Wilson Creek with nine points.

With the win, MLCA improves to 3-7 in league, 3-13 overall. With the loss, Wilson Creek falls to 0-8 in league, 2-13 overall.
