Martha Engel

Martha Engel of Moses Lake went to be with her Lord on Dec. 25, 2005.

Martha was born Jan. 22, 1918 to Fred and Christina Goll in Highland Township, N.D.

On June 8, 1937 she married Fred Engel. They farmed near McClusky, N.D., until 1956, when they moved to Bismark. While there, Martha worked as a cafeteria supervisor at St. Alexis Hospital. In 1964 they moved to Missoula, Mont., where she again worked in the cafeteria at St. Patrick's Hospital. After retirement in 1982, Fred and Martha moved to Wilcox, Ariz.

Martha lost her beloved husband in 1985. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Moses Lake to be near her daughters. Martha and Fred raised six children.

She is survived by her sons, Dallas of Spokane and Rod of Hayden, Idaho, and Skip of McClusky, N.D., and her daughters Cheryl McCrorie of Boise, Idaho, Brenda Engel and Cindy Strauss both of Moses Lake. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Martha liked to spend her time doing crossword puzzles and making hand-stitched quilts. But her greatest joy was her family. She will be missed a great deal, but we know she is now with her husband, parents and sisters.
