Lady Lions swiped by Tigers at home

Entiat runs away with championship

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Christian Academy girls basketball started strong and finished slow. Entiat took the championship 54-28.

Rebecca Hallberg started the game with a steal for the Lady Lions but Moses Lake was unable to capitalize on it and the resulting Moses Lake turnover gave Entiat a 2-0 lead.

Lindsey Dietzen fouled early allowing to extend the Entiat lead to 4.

Moses Lake ran the floor and Esther Timofeyev scored the bucket and was fouled.

Dietzen scooped up a long rebound and sunk a layup to tie the game 4-4.

Heidi Sandberg scored the next bucket giving Moses Lake the lead. As the quarter continued, the Lady Lions would suffer the consequences of turnovers.

Entiat tied the game at 8 and went on a 14-0 scoring run.

The first score of the second quarter came off of a freethrow from Dietzen to make the score 22-9.

The Lady Lions began to panic, fouling, and again, suffering from turnovers.

The final score of the second quarter for Moses Lake came on a jumpshot from Jessica Jachetta.

With time winding down, Entiat continued to score making it 34-11 at halftime.

Moses Lake began the second half with a foul putting Entiat on the line to shoot two, they sank one.

Dietzen had a steal with just under seven minutes remaining in the period to give the Lady Lions a small spark. It was not, however, enough to help Moses Lake rally.

Timofeyev sunk a baby jumper for two to make the score 41-13 Entiat. She continued to bolster her squad with an offensive rebound and basket with 31/2 minutes left in the third period.

Moses Lake continued to play scrappy basketball and scored another six points before the buzzer.

Entiat went into the fourth quarter with a 48-20 lead.

Timofeyev maintained her presence in the low post scoring and drawing fouls for her team.

With four minutes remaining, Entiat called a timeout and substituted in their non-starters.

Sandberg had the defining play of the fourth quarter with a blocked shot with 30 seconds remaining.

The final shot for Moses Lake came from behind the arc — Dietzen stepped back for three at the buzzer.
