MOSES LAKE — Quinn Baker put an emphatic point on Moses Lake's 72-56 win over Southridge Tuesday with a dunk at the buzzer.

"We played really well," said head coach Brant Mayo. "It's good to bounce back with a win, especially after Saturday."

The Chiefs spent the last four minutes of the game in the double bonus. Those four minutes included a 6-0 shooting streak from the line by Josh Loera, Moses Lake's leading scorer.

Loera went 10 for 13 from the line and had 20 points.

Moses Lake dominated Southridge out of the gate. The Suns won the tip and scored the first bucket but from then on, it was all Chiefs.

The Chiefs went on a 10-0 scoring run, sparked by Loera, and left Southridge behind.

Mitch Roylance hit his stride early, sinking his first three-ball with 31/2 minutes left in the first quarter, making it 14-3.

The Suns were able to cut the lead to seven with time winding down in the first quarter.

The quarter ended with a steal from Southridge but they were unable to get a shot off before time expired, leaving the score 19-12.

Baker opened the second quarter scoring for Moses Lake with a fade away jumper from the top of the key with just under seven minutes left in the half.

Southridge had their first bucket of the second quarter on a foul from Danny Dalton with three minutes left in the half.

The Suns got the 3-point conversion and make it 27-15.

Roylance had another three with just under two minutes left, the last score of the half for Moses Lake.

The Chiefs went into the locker room up 32-19.

Daunte Powell drew the foul and got the bucket for the first score of the second half.

Powell sunk his foul shot to add three more to Moses Lake's growing lead.

Moses Lake continued to maintain their grip on the game with another three from Roylance with one minute left in the third quarter.

At the end of the third quarter, the Chiefs were up 41-31.

In the fourth quarter Moses Lake began to stretch the lead in earnest.

It was Roylance who got things started, scoring the first 10 points of the fourth quarter for Moses Lake.

With the Chiefs up 55-39, Southridge put BJ Guerra on the line. Guerra extended the lead by two.

Loera sealed the win for Moses Lake with his near perfect shooting from the line after a foul and technical foul were called on Southridge.

"It was a great team effort," said Mayo. "That's why we won."

Loera had 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. Roylance had 17 points. Baker had 11 points and seven rebounds.
