Body found in canal near Warden

WARDEN — A woman was found dead and floating in a canal near Warden Sunday night along with her dog.

The 47-year-old female was discovered between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. Sunday in a lateral canal near Road P.5 SE, west of the Sage Hills Golf Course. Her dog, presumed drowned, was also found in the canal.

The woman, who lived alone near where her body was found, was partially clothed.

Grant County Sheriff Chief Deputy John Turley said the circumstances were suspicious.

"They want to autopsy both the dog and the female today," Turley said.

Results of the autopsy were expected to be released this afternoon.
