Dogs can't lose another game
NEWARK, Ohio — The bats went silent for the River Dogs in the second game of the Babe Ruth Senior World Series. They managed just five hits in a 4-0 loss to Alabama Rawdogs Had the River Dogs won they would've advanced to play in the finals of the winners bracket Wednesday.
Instead they will take the field against Denham Springs, La., Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Michael Rattigan started for the Dogs and pitched a good game. He gave up an unearned run in the third inning and a home run in the fourth but the story was Mobile's starting pitching.
Their starter, Brandon Sage, allowed five hits, no walks and struck out five while pitching a complete game. In fact, it is the second straight complete game shutout for the Rawdogs in the Series.
Curran Redal led the Dogs with two hits and Kyle Wilmot added a double.
The Dogs' next opponent Denham Springs is also 1-1. They lost their first game of the tournament, 9-3 against Monteray Bay, Cali. Denham won their second game, defeating Hammond, Indiana, 4-1.
Now they face the Dogs.
If the River Dogs win they have four more games to win before they get a shot at the Babe Ruth Senior World Series title.
