Vivian Smith, 94, longtime Warden resident, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005 at her granddaughter's home in Moses Lake.

Vivian was born to late Edward & and LaVerna (Nelson) Lark on January 8, 1911 in Emmet, Idaho where she was raised and attended grade school. She moved to LaGrand, Ore. for her high school and college education. She lived as a nanny through these years in order to go to school. She taught one year at Blue Mountain School.

At Christmastime she married Glenn D. Smith and lived many years in Ponderosa, Ore. where her two daughters were born and raised. Their pleasures in life were hunting, fishing, camping and pinochle parties. In 1954, they purchased and moved to their farm in Warden. It was like pioneering. In 1966, her husband retired and rented the farm. They continued to live on the farm. In Sept. of 1966 her husband lost his life in a boating accident on the O'Sullivan Dam. Her mother moved on to the farm and stayed until she passed away.

She was active at the Warden Senior Center and Warden Women's Club for about 30 years. She spent many happy times quilting, painting and traveling to see relatives during these years. Unfortunately, the past 15 years she suffered with dementia. We will love and miss her greatly. She is survived by her two daughters of Warden, Dona R. Sartin (Harold) and Carol L. Ditty, five grand children, 11 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements are in the care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
