Chiefs score 31 total runs in wins over Pirates

MOSES LAKE What is there to say about a 22-1 game? Not a whole lot.

It was a hot day for Davis to roll into town and pitches were jumping off of Moses Lake bats early on.

The Lady Chiefs pitcher, Heather Coulter, was credited with the win against an overpowered Pirates team in the first game.

Moses Lake s batters set up camp at the plate during the second and third inning, sending 13 batters to the plate in each inning. The game quickly turned into a scoring clinic as run after run was brought home.

In the second inning Moses Lake scored eight runs on ten hits and in the third inning eight runs were scored on eight hits.

The Chiefs made stealing bases and scoring look easy as they moved through the infield with little challenge.

We were hitting well off the Davis pitcher, said Coach Alan Coulter.

Moses Lake s batting cooled in the second game, the Lady Chiefs scoring just nine runs after the game one blow out.

The first run scored came on a Mattie Zayas single in the bottom of the second that sent Ashley Haight home.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lindsey Rossell made traveling the bases look easy. She hit a line drive single to get on base and stole second, third and home while Shawnee Durbin was at the plate.

After the five inning barn burner in the first game, the slower pace of the second game was definitely a down-shift.

Games like this develop bad habits for us, Coach Coulter said. The girls got relaxed and bored [in the second game] and they let down their intensity at the plate.

Coach Coulter may have been hoping for more of a challenge coming into today s game to prepare for their next match a tough game at Eastmont.

In the spirit of looking ahead and keeping an eye on the upcoming playoffs, Coach Coulter said, We need to keep winning.
