Moses Lake lost both games to Southridge on Friday with identical scores of 2-0. Southridge struck out 27 hitters total during the double header. Moses Lake pitcher, Heather Coulter, struck out 19. Heather Coulter hit 2 for 2 with a double and Jaime Albrant had two hits in the afternoon.

Moses Lake played a tough 12 innings in the first game but came up one run short. The Chiefs had just four runs off of 12 hits with three errors. Hunter, Dietzen, LeFave and Price shared pitching duties during the game. Curran Redal hit 2 for 4, Zane Bator went 2 for 6 with a double, Garret Dano hit 2 for 6, Bryan McCaffery hit 2 for 5 and Jeremy Martinez rounded out the batting with a home run.

In the second game Moses Lake ran out of steam with just two runs on two hits. Price and Munoz stood on the mound for the Chiefs.

Dave Johnson and the rest of the Ephrata baseball team needed only five innings to shut down Cascade in game one of a doubleheader Saturday.

The Tigers popped off a 20-7 win, then Reid Forrest pitched a gem in game two for a 3-1 Ephrata win.

Mike Ratigan took the mound in game one, striking out 10 and walking two and going 1-for-1 from the plate with an RBI.

Forrest added 11 strikeouts in game two and had one of only two hits in the second game for the Tigers.

The Knights had an eight runs off of eight hits in the first game against Wahluke. Calvin Mathis was the winning pitcher; aside from his duties on the mound, Mathis had one run scored and a double in the first game. Ray Valle hit 2 for 3 with two runs and two stolen bases. Eldrige went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Colt Brown also had two runs in the first game.

Royal came out swinging in the second game, winning 11-7. Ray Valle led his team on the mound. Eldridge had two runs and two RBIs. Calvin Mathis hit 2 for 2 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Garrat Werlinger hit 2 of 4 with three RBIs. Saturday's win puts Royal City at 4-4 in league.

Royal was shut out at Highland on Saturday, losing 4-0. Highland had 19 shots on goal to Royal's four. The Knights' keeper had 12 saves on the day. Coach Darren Christensen said his team was taken out of the flow of the game and hopes they will rebound with two games this coming week.

The Warriors defeated Othello 2-1 on Saturday. Wahluke out shot Othello 19-8 and appeared to control most of the possession time. Danny Barajas found the back of the net unassisted in the 16th minute of the match. Aldo Zamora hit his ninth goal on the season with the help of Leo Gallardo at 54:30. Othello scored their lone goal off a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Fernando Munoz had three saves on the day for Wahluke.

Saturday's win takes Wahluke to 8-1 on the season.

Wahluke plays Quincy on Thursday.

The lone Lady Knight to play on Saturday was unable to pull out a tie breaker win against Zillah. Yuri Lopez lost to Chantel Garcia after a battle in the third set 6-3, 3-6, 7-9.

Guilaherme Almeida continued his winning streak for Royal on Saturday, easily defeating Zillah's Alex Dahlian 6-0, 6-1. The other matches did not end as well. Danny Meseberg of Royal was defeated by Danny Dunbar 1-6, 1-6, the team of Daulkey/Delay lost to Schilperoort/Winters in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 5-7 and Hebdon/Villa was defeated by Winters/Lundberg 1-6, 2-6.

Royal's next match is a make-up match against White Swan on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers beat Omak 4-1 on Saturday on their home court. In singles Genissa Bornog defeated Kana Voelckers 6-2, 6-2 and Shawna Bonett beat Blair Bailey 6-1, 6-2. In girls doubles the team of Webb/Hutchinson defeated Menard/Skaarhold 6-0, 6-3, VanHuesden/Senn beat Sheeley/Skaarhold 7-5, 6-2 and Bair/Conklin lost to Dienst/Rose 6-7, 5-7, 4-6.

The boys team did not fair as well. In boys singles Leon Rubalcava was defeated by Matt Stewart 1-6, 1-6 and TJ Sween lost to Beau Bailey 3-6, 4-6. In doubles Willauer/Yenney was defeated by Connelly/Root 0-6, 0-6, Jensen/DeStio lost to Raykowski/Andrist 1-6, 1-6 and Harr/Lutz was beaten by Guelich/Eli 3-6, 2-6.

At the Columbia Basin Invitational on Saturday, Moses Lake's boys took first in the team title race. The Lady Chiefs placed 14th out of a field of 21.

In the 100 meter dash Aaron Wafer took first with a time of 11.44 seconds and Brandon Anderson took eighth with a time of 12.09 seconds. In the boys 4x100 relay the team of Anderson, Grant, Wafer and Carpenter took first with a time of 44.47 seconds. Kraig Grant took fourth in the boys 400 with a time of 53.65 seconds. Brendon Thompson took fifth in the boys 800 with a time of 2:11.60. In the 200 meter dash Aaron Wafer took first with a time of 22.16 seconds and Ryan Carpenter took fourth with a time of 23.39 seconds. In the boys 4x400 relay the team of Wafer, Grant, Carpenter and Thompson took first with a time of 3:34.41 minutes.

In the boys high jump, Chris Andrews took fourth with a cleared height of 5'8". Kraig Grant took second in the boys pole vault with a cleared height of 13'6". Chris Andrews took first in the boys long jump with a distance of 20'8". In the boys discus throw, Billy Matthews took second with a distance of 133'2". David Moore took second in the boys javelin throw with a distance of 173'8.5". Curt Ledeboer took sixth in the boys shot put with a throw of 44'3".

Amy Alporque was responsible for the girls team score placing in all three events she participated in.
