Vivian A. Thoren

Vivian A. Thoren, 96, a former longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away at The Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Webster, Texas on Thursday, April 7, 2005.

No local services will be held.

A private memorial service was held at the James Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas on Saturday, April 9, 2005. Internment will be at Acacia Memorial Park, Seattle.

Vivian was born on February 22, 1909 in Spokane and married Robert E. Thoren on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943 in Seattle. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Moses Lake in April 1993.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Edith and Herbert Sheppard, her sister and brother-in-law Wanda and Robert Isler of Woodinville, and her beloved husband, Robert, of Moses Lake.

Vivian and Robert moved to Moses Lake in 1946 where Vivian lived until October, 2000 when she moved to Webster, Texas (south of Houston) to be near her two daughters and their families.

Vivian was a former Worthy Matron and Grand Chapter representative with 50+ years as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Silver Sage Chapter of Moses Lake. Vivian loved and enjoyed her many Eastern Star and Masonic activities and held numerous offices throughout the years including many years as the chapter secretary.

She also served as a volunteer at LakeRidge Special Care Center and had many dear friends in Moses Lake and the surrounding area.

Vivian is survived by her daughter Roberta Schouten and husband Bill, daughter Joanne Bell and husband Bill, two granddaughters, Tracy Johnson, Karen Swerdlin and husband Arron, two grandsons, Brent Schouten and wife Patty, Bryan Schouten and wife Sara, one great-grandson, Andrew "Brady" Johnson, and four great-granddaughters, Analiese Swerdlin, and Kylee, Rheanna, and Aislynn Schouten. Vivian was also blessed with a great-grandson and two great-granddaughters by marriage, Brad, Megan and Jessica Hurst.

The family wishes to thank Olivia and Gene Bergenholtz for the many years of friendship they provided our parents, and especially for the assistance they provided Vivian following Robert's death.
