James "Jim" Collester

James "Jim" Collester, 92, Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Moses Lake Assembly of God Church with Pastor Devon Wood officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Jim was born April 2, 1913 in Hollywood, California, son of the late Albert Henry and Grace May (Williams) Collester. He was raised and educated in Southern California, graduating from North Hollywood High School in 1932. He met Anna T. Brittsan at a dance a couple of years later and they were married on June 26, 1935 in Culver City, Calif. They continued to live in the San Fernando Valley area. In 1940 Jim began working as a mechanic for the City of Burbank. Over the years he assumed more responsibility until he became shop foreman. He retired in the early 1970s. They then moved to Silver Springs, Nev., living there for the next 18 years. In 1990 they moved to Moses Lake to be closer to their daughter and have lived here since.

They loved to go camping and over the years belonged to the Lovable Loafers Camper Club in California and the Silver Sage Sams, which they helped start, in Nevada.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Anna Collester, Moses Lake; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Bela Kerekffy, Moses Lake; daughter-in-law, Sharon Collester, Oceano, Calif; four grandchildren, Heather Kerekffy, Chadley and Terri Collester, Stephen Collester, Leanne Collester; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Collester, Joshua Collester and Zachary Collester.

One son, Jimmie Lee Collester; two sisters, Gladys Olsen and Dorothy Heisle; and one brother Albert Collester, preceded him in death.
