No home-pool advantage for Moses Lake

Walla Walla just out-touched Moses Lake for first place in the 200-yard medley relay in Thursday's meet.

It was a crucial meet that helped the Blue Devils to a 95-88 win over the Chiefs.

"If they would have been reversed, it would have changed the meet," head coach Tony St. Onge said.

St. Onge added that there were about 15 swimming matchups that would determine the outcome of the meet and Moses Lake needed to win the majority. But, St. Onge said, Walla Walla came out on top resulting in the win.

"Close races cost us the meet," St. Onge said. "There were several spots that we just got out-touched."

Moses Lake dropped its first home game of the season and will defend at home against Southridge on Tuesday.

Currently, the Chiefs have nine swimmers qualified for districts in two meets for the season. Leading the way is Angela Noteboom (200- and 500- free), Santana Stockman (500-free), Stephanie McFarland (200 I.M. and 100-back) Annalee Bassett (200 I.M. and 100- butterfly), McKenzie McKean (50-free and 100-butterfly), Kelly Sandberg (100-free and 100-breast), Corissa Howard (100-free and 100-breast), Marielle McKean (50- and 100-free) and Jamie Almos (100-back).
