Globemasters win
Globemasters, from the Herald: "The Larson Air Force Base Globemasters won their opening game in the World-Wide Air Force softball tournament now in progress in Maxwell AFB, Ala. Larson smacked Lackland AFB, Texas, 14-3, Saturday. The Globemasters won the Northwest Air Force Conference tourney to qualify for the Alabama trip. Standing from left, Jack Pinion, John Smoot, Dennis Wayne, Daniel Pavlovic, Charles Wilson, James Joyner, Leonard parish and Jackson L. Bennett. Front row form left, Brian Schaffer, R.O. Globes win in tourney
"Dennis Wayne chucked a two-hitter and team mates chipped in five home runs, as the Larson Air Force Base Globemasters smashed Lackland AFB, Texas 14-3 Saturday in the World-Wide Air Force softball tournament.
"Playing the tourney opener at Maxwell AFB, Ala., the Globemasters led throughout. Larson is scheduled to play again tomorrow, meeting possibly Bolling AFB, Washington, D.C.
"James Joyner who smashed two home runs, a double and a single, drove six Larson runners home. He had a perfect four-for-four at the plate.
"Another batting leader was Jack Pinion with a home run and two doubles, for his three-for-four batting effort. Daniel Pavlovic and Robert Gerics were the other Globemasters contributing circuit clouts."
Vance, Driggs horses place in race meet
"Two Moses Lake horses placed in the money last weekend in races at Spokane's Playfair track.
"Robert H. Vance's Dark Sea Queen finished second in a six furlong scat for $900 yesterday. The Queen paid $5.70 and $3.50.
"Mrs. Lottie Driggs' horse, Final Lady, ran third in a mile and 70 yards scamper Friday. The Lady paid $5.20.
"Three horses owned by Ray Clink of Cascade Valley and one trained by him failed to finish in the money.
"Unsuccessful were Mary Rae, Black Miracle and Avenger Boy, all the property of Clink. Aldine, a horse Clink trains, ran sixth in a one mile and one-sixteenth go Friday."
