Port of Quincy joins EDC marketing initiative
Commissioners look for expanded interest in intermodal, industrial park
Port of Quincy commissioners voted unanimously last week to participate in the Grant County Economic Development Council's Japan marketing initiative.
The commissioners have pledged $6,000 towards the effort which has already begun.
The GCEDC is engaging in marketing activities in Japan, targeting sectors including aerospace, manufacturing, electronics, as well as food processing and tourism.
The Port of Quincy is joining other partners in the wide-scale initiative. Grant County Tourism and the Port of Moses Lake have already pledged their support.
"As commissioners, we feel that this is an opportunity to expand our efforts to market the intermodal facility and the industrial park properties to a wider and different audience," said Port of Quincy Commissioner Brian Kuest, also the GCEDC's president this year. "This is a bold and promising endeavor with potential benefits for various sectors of the Quincy Valley economy."
The team of consultants is already active in Japan, engaging in conversations and organizing meetings to bring Grant County's benefits to the table.
"The Port of Quincy is further demonstrating its vision for the economic development of the Quincy Valley and is a solid partner to the EDC's efforts," said Terry Brewer, GCEDC executive director. "The business advantages at the Port of Quincy are strong assets for Grant County and will be well received in Japan."
Quincy Port commissioners have also indicated their willingness to participate further in the Japan marketing initiative in 2005.;;27Ohme'ueT?UQuincy Port supports EDC planMain_Server;;2O#0B2AUDTAe”Ocx
