Clem M. Haney, 69, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Rose Street Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Jeff Earl presiding. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., with the family greeting friends between 5 and 7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake, Wash.

Clem was born October 23, 1935 in Moore, Idaho, son of Floyd Melvin and Leonora Grace (Wortley). He was raised and educated in Moore, graduating from Moore High School in 1953.

Immediately following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Philippines and Japan. During his military service, he began experiencing health problems and ultimately received a medical discharge in 1957.

Clem moved to Moses Lake, Wash. at that time, where his parents were in the construction business. He began working with his father as a superintendent in heavy equipment construction, helping build area roads, irrigation canals and leveling farmland.

Clem completed his associate's degree in science and a course in auto cad drafting at Big Bend Community College. Years earlier, he attended the Water and Wastewater School in Neosho, Mo., where he obtained certification in water and wastewater management for Oklahoma and Texas, solid waste management certification from EPA and Water and Wastewater Lab, and certification from the Oklahoma State Health Department.

Over the years, Clem also worked in bookkeeping for Express Lumber, in the electronics department for Boeing Company at the Moses Lake site, the experimental department for Skagit Steel and Iron, as a construction-engineering tech for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a patrolman for the Port of Moses Lake, a reserve officer for the Grant County Sheriff's Department, a partner in Coleman Construction, and owner of Haney and Brooks, Inc. (dba, H & B Builders, Inc.). Declining health put an end to his work years.

Clem was a member of the Moses Lake First Ward, LDS Church, where he served in several capacities over the years, including First Counselor in Elders Quorum, Second Counselor in Sunday School, Ward Clerk and First Counselor in High Priest Quorum. He also served as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 104 in Moses Lake for many years. He loved photography, fishing, camping and the outdoors.

He is survived by: his wife, Noreta Haney of Moses Lake; seven children and spouses, Paul Yearout of Anchorage, Alaska, James "Butch" and Theda Haney of Warden, Wash., Laurie Fleming of Blue Mound, Texas, Athena and Dave Feltus of Clayton, Wash., Steven and Dorothy Yearout of Moses Lake, Craig and Andrea Yearout of Germany and Tanya and Neil Brooks of Moses Lake; one sister, LaDean Daggy of Moses Lake; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one nephew, Eric Hurst; and one niece, Diane Conrad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kurt Yearout, one granddaughter, Stacy Harris and one great-granddaughter, Jamie Harris.
