Grant C. Nelson

Grant C. Nelson, 92, of Quincy, Wash., passed away October 22, 2004 at the family home in Quincy. Grant was born on April 21, 1912 to Frank A. Nelson and Nellie (Churchill) Nelson in Mt. Vernon, Wash.

He was raised and grew up on the family farm near Mt. Vernon. While there, he helped his parents on the farm.

His father passed away when Grant was 11 years old. At that time, his mother, Grant and his younger brother ran the farm. In 1927, they heard the Gospel being preached in their area and continued to serve Christ to the end.

On June 21, 1939 he married Clytie Williams in Mt. Vernon. They celebrated their 65th anninversary this June.

Grant worked at Darigold for many years before moving to Fir Island, where he was in the dairy and crop farming. In 1968, the family moved to Quincy and farmed there until retirement.

In 1998, Grant received a Washington State Wildlife Conservation award from the Department of Wildlife.

He is survived by: his wife at the family home; one son, Frank Nelson and his wife, Glenda of Soap Lake; one daughter, Janet and her husband, Roger Goodwin of Othello; one brother, R.D. Nelson of Seattle; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Bartlett and two brothers, Francis and Frank.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata. Burial will follow on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in LaConner, Wash.
