2004 homecoming 'a week full of spirit'

Maria Hamm and Brady Coker crowned homecoming king and queen of Moses Lake High School

MOSES LAKE — There was royalty. There was school spirit. And there was competition during the 2004 Homecoming week at Moses Lake High School.

Starting Monday, students strutted their unique fashions for "Mismatch Day," followed by "College Team Day" on Tuesday, color wars on Wednesday, theme day on Thursday and "Maroon and Gold Day" on Friday.

"It was a week full of spirit," said MLHS Assistant Principal Joshua Meek.

As the week came to a close, students and staff came together for a homecoming assembly on Friday to perform skits, dance and hold class competitions.

"My favorite part of homecoming was dressing up and competing against other classes," said Sara Olson, a freshman at MLHS.

Before Friday night's football game against the Davis High School Pirates, the Chiefs rallied outside the commons to show their school rivalry by paying a dollar to hit the Davis Pirates car.

Festivities continued throughout the football game when Maria Hamm and Brady Coker were named the 2004 homecoming king and queen.

"Maria and I have been friends for awhile and it was pretty special to have her up there with me," Coker said. "It's not often that you get nominated for homecoming with one of your friends."
