| October 15, 2004 9:00 PM

Ephrata takes down Cascade in a three game win, taking the match 25-22, 25-15, 25-21.

Ephrata played a home game Thursday night. In front of the home crowd the Tigers put on a show for the fans. Emily Lewellin continues strong this season and had five kills, three blocks and 12 digs. Kelly Neal put up five kills, three blocks, and three digs, and Courtney Webb finished with 16 assists, 16-for-17 serving, and three aces.

Ephrata was able to stop cascade and in the second match hold them to only 15 points, a factor which Ephrata head coach Kim Crown attributed to "Even and consistent" game play.

Quincy can't hold off Royal

Quincy and Royal City duked it out and Royal City came away with the win winning in three, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.

Royal City was able to maintain pressure on Quincy, suppressing them to an offense that could only produce one game peaking for a high at 20 points.

"I felt like we were in control the whole game," said Royal coach Paul Olsufka.

"Our girls played really well as a team, there were no huge [individual] stats, we were just consistent as a team," Osulfka added.

Helping Royal City with consistency were Rikki Carter who went 17-for-19 serving, had 3 aces and 7 kills. Angela Lang went 12-13 serving, had four aces, and 7 kills.

Quincy's Leigh-Ann Huxtable had three kills and three blocks, and Lauren Huxtable went eight-eight serving.

Othello beats Connell

It is the first time in three years that Othello has defeated Connell. Othello held on in a close match going 17-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 16-14.

The night flip-flopped around and kept Othello guessing what was next as neither team could establish complete dominance.

"The game was completely back and forth the whole time," coach Steve Parris said.

The was tense near the end and Othello thought they had breathing room in the last match as they were up 10-6, however Connell gave them a run for their money and tied it up at 11. Othello's win was decided by Stacie Villareal who served an ace for the win.

The Huskies' Ashley Walker had 12 kills and eight blocks, Jennifer Jensen had nine kills and five aces, and Kelli Egbert was all over the court with 24 digs. "This was really good for us, this was a big win and our kids came to play," said Parris

Warden endures to the end

Warden fought to the end and beat Wahluke in 5 going 23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 15-12.

Highlights from the Cougars came from Marce Villegas 13 kills, six aces, and Sierra Kisler 11 kills eight aces on 43-for-46 serving and digs.

Warden kept Wahluke from getting too far in the second match and was later surprised in third.

"I'm very proud of our girls for hanging in and winning a tough match. Wahluke definitely has the potential to win some games and I'm just glad that they didn't get over the hump against us," coach David Vega said about the win.
