Business offerings include waxing, rehab massage

MOSES LAKE — There's new peace in what used to be called Persnickety's.

The day spa, located in Moses Lake for the past year at 1107 S. Juniper Drive, recently changed its name to the Serenity Day Spa.

"We had somebody leave, and she owns the name," owner Teresa Tobin explained. "Now we're doing our own name."

There are three workers at the business now — nail technician Tobin, esthetician Julie Fairbanks and massage therapist Esther Chandler.

The spa offers manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, restorative therapies, spa treatments, massages, skin care and body waxing.

Chandler said she does a lot of rehabilitation massage for people who have been injured in car accidents and the like, and so she has chiropractors and medical doctors referring patients to her.

"I worked in other salons here in town, and just decided it was time to do my own thing," Tobin said in explaining what led to the spa's initial opening. "There's nothing like it here in town, where we just do these services. Most salons have these services, but also have hair involved."

Chandler pointed out that the decision to not do hair at the business cuts down on the chemicals, and is more pleasant to the nose.

"We've had great response and been pretty busy (since opening)," Tobin said. "Everybody is excited."

Tobin said that the new name reflects the quiet, relaxed, soothing atmosphere of the spa.

Chandler pointed out that it's a smaller mouthful when answering the phone.

All three essentially grew up in the area, and decided to return to practice their craft.

"We do really well, which is very unique for, especially women and businesswomen, to get along with each other comfortably," Chandler said.
