Terry was born February 27, 1958 in Oakes, ND, the youngest of four boys to Clarence and Helen (Ketterling) Kast. They lived on the family farm until moving to Othello, Wash. during Terry's junior high school years. He learned to work hauling hay for the local farmers and had many great memories, especially with his longtime friends, Jon Krupa and Andy Lampe.
They all have memories with their motorcycles and hot cars and having fun through their high school years. While in school, Terry loved participating in sports, especially wrestling. Terry graduated from Othello High School in 1976.
Terry met his sweetheart, Kathryn "Kathy" Reichert in high school and they were married after their graduation in Othello on November 17, 1977. They enjoyed several years together as they continued to live in Othello, traveling to Europe and other destinations before they started their family.
Terry began driving truck for G and O Trucking in Moses Lake and in 1981, they moved to Moses Lake. He later began driving truck for Milky Way Transport and for the last four years worked as a truck driver for Wonder Bread Transport.
He and Kathy owned and operated "Children Are Special" Daycare for the past 22 years, most recently located across from the high school. They both felt very strongly about the Christian influence they had with the children.
Terry enjoyed camping, fishing, collecting model trains, cars and computers. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moses Lake and Othello, a member of the Teamsters Union Local #760, served on the Grant County Fair board, a very active 4-H leader with sheep, hogs and dairy, and most recently active in the rodeo activities for his daughter, Sarah. His family's activities always took precedence with his time and he never missed a game that his children were playing in and he was very proud of all of their athletic achievements.
His is survived by: his loving wife, Kathy at the family home in Moses Lake; four children and one daughter-in-law, Joshua James and Crystal Kast, Brett Michael Kast, Sarah Marie Kast, all of Moses Lake and Brian Edward Kast of Spokane; one granddaughter, Makiya May Kast of Moses Lake; parents, Clarence and Helen Kast of Moses Lake; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Keith and Curt.
Memorials may be made to a fund in Terry's name being set up at Washington Trust Bank in Moses Lake for area scholarships.
The Kast family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care of Beth Lazlo with Hospice, Dr. Tom Thorn and his nurse, Penny Kimball, and their many friends and family.
