Scrappin' Ladies moves to new location
Owners find more space, visibility on Third Avenue
It may have started out as a whimsical thought, but Scrappin' Ladies is making big moves.
Scrappin' Ladies owners Sylvia Fabian and Jan Stolz were scrapbooking one afternoon about three years ago when the idea first came up.
"We were just laughing, and all of a sudden, I just said, 'You know, when we retire, we should open up a scrapbook store,'" Stolz recalled. "We laughed, of course."
But the idea came into being Oct. 10, 2002.
The business, formerly located at 209 S. Ash St. , opened Monday in a new location at 108 W. Third Ave.
"More space and more visibility," Stolz said succinctly of the reasons behind the move. "It gives us more space to bring in more inventory, and we have a larger crop room for the gals to come in and use."
She said that the business gets a lot of customers visiting from the coast, who drop in once and then return.
Fabian said that a lot of customers also hail from such surrounding towns as Odessa, Royal City and Ephrata.
"We also have items here that nobody else has, locally made items," she said.
Fabian and Stolz are the sole employees for the business, which will probably remain the case.
They said that their customers are very excited about the business' move, especially those that are regular customers.
The store offers all the essential scrapbooking materials, natch, classes for scrapbooking and different crafts. There are craft nights every Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., and classes for children during the summer. If any customers are interested in holding a birthday party, bridal shower or baby shower in the new location, Stolz said that they are also open to that possibility.
