| November 23, 2004 8:00 PM

Mary An (Stussy) Tainter, 92, born to Rosina Knoble and John Peter Stussy on November 13, 1912 in Gay Mills, Wisc., passed away Friday, November 19, 2004 at her home. Mary was one of five girls and five boys in her family.

She married Ray Byron Tainter on June 7, 1930 in Winona, Minn. They had been married 51 years upon his death in 1982.

Mary and Ray came to make Moses Lake their home in 1942 with their three children, Raymond, Maxine and Marcella. Mary was employed at Basin Produce for the majority of her working years, and later worked at Brotherton Seed Company and Hansen's Produce until retirement.

Mary was an active member of the Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed dancing every chance she could get. One of her passions in life was making hand-stitched quilts — specifically, a quilt pattern called "Cathedral Window" — which she lovingly made, one for each child and grandchild in her family, and which also won first prize in a national quilting competition.

She is survived by: her sister, Martha Blum of Wisconsin; her son, Raymond Tainter and daughters, Maxine Bohn and Marcella Tainter, all of Moses Lake; eight grandchildren, Terry Tainter (wife, Shirley), Tamara Bruegeman (husband, Richard), Mike Bohn, Mark Bohn, Monty Bohn, Marty Bohn (wife, Cindy), Chad Bessett and Tina Bessett; 14 great-grandchildren, Heather Kent (husband, Charles), Eric Bruegeman, Christopher Tainter, Nicholas Tainter, Mallory Bohn, Matthew Bohn, Brittney Bohn, Kerrissa Bohn, Kyila, K.C., Ryan, Derrick, Shayla and stepgrandson, Levi; and two great great-grandsons, Michael and Sean Kent.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, three sisters, Katherine Stussy, Rosina Haberlie and Mertie Bowen, five brothers, Casper Stussy, Peter John Stussy, Jacob Stussy, Carl Henry Stussy and Rudolph Stussy, son-in-law, Meredeth Bohn and daughter-in-law, JoAnna Tainter.

Viewing will be held at Benson Family Funeral Services' Chapel on Friday, November 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake, at 1 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2004.
